Temper Tantrum

08/08/12

Cranky Captain Chamberlain pulled his weight on a Qantas flight from Singapore whilst flying as a passenger. Following a magistrates’ hearing, it emerged that the feckless pilot-passenger got stuck into an argument with an air stewardess as she attempted to help a passenger stow their hand luggage in an overhead compartment. It is alleged that when the attendant approached the container holding Captain Chamberlain’s luggage he remonstrated “Do not touch my bags.” The situation soon escalated with the off-duty pilot announcing, “You have broken a laptop before and you are not going to break another one.” The stewardess countered by pointing out that passengers pay for their seats rather than the luggage locker, which didn’t go down too well with the Captain. One flash of an ASIC card later, the perturbed pilot threatened, “I will be writing a report into CASA. You have breached a number of CASA regulations, including bags weighing more than seven kilos.” Mt Chamberlain continued to grumble about other ”breaches” by the cabin crew and he continued to survey the cabin and take notes throughout the flight. The cantankerous Captain fessed up to his grandstanding in court and was discharged after he issued an apology to the stewardess. Of course, there are two sides to every story so we keenly await the Captain’s tale.
