GOLD COAST AIRPORT WELCOMES QANTAS FIRST FLIGHT

28/10/12

Gold Coast Airport has today welcomed the return of Qantas to the Gold Coast, with the first direct Sydney-Gold Coast service touching down earlier today. The service heralds a new era of business and premium leisure travel for the region, and Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Paul Donovan said this is testament to Qantas’ support of the Gold Coast.

“As Australia’s sixth largest city, the desire for a premium leisure and business service has continued to grow and it’s great news for the region that Qantas have responded to that demand.

Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter also welcomed Qantas back to the Gold Coast. “I am sure Qantas customers are as happy as we are to see the national carrier returning to the Gold Coast,” he said. “The Gold Coast is Australia’s favorite holiday destination and one of the country’s best business event cities, its popularity has been emphasised by the return of Qantas and the overwhelming response of their customers to promptly book a Gold Coast visit.”

The new Qantas service operates three times daily, providing approximately 7000 inbound and outbound seats per week.
