Shanghai-based seaplane manufacturer Oxai is planning to bring its M2 Skywave amphibious LSA to Avalon this year. The company also plans to open up a base in Australia at some point in the near future.
The M2 Skywave is a two-seater, carbon-fibre amphib with retractable gear bearing a striking resemblance to the forthcoming Icon A5 which is on its way from the States shortly. Powered either by a Rotax 912iS or a 915, the Skywave is destined for the 650kgs category.
With various different avionics options being considered, the purchase price appears to have firmed up at around the $240,000 mark. It remains to be seen whether it will be going head to head with the forthcoming Icon A5.
