Homebuilding requires devotion, dedication and a huge serving of determination to finally get your collection of parts and pistons off the ground. Dozens of decisions have to be made before a project is even attempted, both for the kit plane builder and the experimental enthusiast. Avionics, airframe, engines, electronics and materials all have to be considered, researched and chosen. Here we collect stories of successful proponents of the fine art of aircraft construction as well as examples of best practices to help you along. We welcome submissions from anyone engaged in ‘DIY Aviation’ who have a tale to tell or a project to describe which might add to the resource pool for other brave pioneers.
