TWO DEAD AS F-16 AND CESSNA COLLIDE
It’s rare that military and civilian aircraft come in contact with each other with respective airspace so tightly separated but when it happens, the results are typically disastrous. Last month, an F-16 fighter jet collided with a private plane in midair near Charleston, South Carolina. The fighter pilot ejected to safety but two people in the Cessna 150 were killed with witnesses describing the collision as a “ball of fire in the air”. The Cessna was hit “broadside” by the fighter jet which came from the nearby Shaw Air Force Base.
