Aussie aviation software outfit AvSoft have been coming on leaps and bounds recently, winning the 2015 National Innovation Award at the Aerospace Innovation Awards in Melbourne. The company’s flagship product, the AvPlan EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) was the kit that bagged the top prize with AvSoft continually upgrading and improving the software, including an entry-level version now also available for Android devices.
AvSoft Australia CEO Bevan Anderson said the award demonstrated the success AvPlan EFB had achieved during the past two years. “We’ve gone from one product in Australia to apps for iOS and Android used by thousands of pilots in Australia, New Zealand and the US, ” he said. “This industry award highlights the value of AvPlan EFB for all those pilots who are still struggling with the complexity and inconvenience of paper-based flight planning.”
To top it off, they’ve just inked a deal for AvPlan to join Jeppesen so that flight planning and Jeppesen’s navigation information can be integrated for global coverage. For pilots using AvPlan, completed flight plans will be able to be entered into the Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck EFB solution on iPad, making pre-flight preparation a cinch.
